Hotel Information: Rising 113 stories, the tower of the Stratosphere Tower is one of the tallest free-standing structures west of the Mississippi River. Elevators whisk guests to indoor and outdoor observation decks with 360-degree views of the mountain-ringed desert valley (complimentary). At night, the valley becomes a neon sea. The hotel appeals to both budget-minded travelers and families.
Amenity highlights: In addition to an on-site casino, the hotel offers an afternoon variety show, a nighttime tribute to famous musicians, and a late-night topless revue (surcharges). Atop the tower are three thrill rides (surcharges): Insanity spins above Las Vegas, X-Scream propels a passenger vehicle over the tower's edge, and Big Shot launches passengers up a mast extending from the tower's top. Dining options include a revolving restaurant, a buffet restaurant, and Naga Chinese Express.
Insider Tip: This Las Vegas hotel has three top-of-the-tower thrill rides: Insanity, X-Scream, and Big Shot. Big Shot launches passengers 160 feet in 2.5 seconds along a 238-foot mast that extends like a needle from the tower.
Stratosphere Tower offers 2,444 guestrooms, updated in 2008, in a building with two 24-story towers. Rooms have large windows that provide city or mountain views. Amenities include wireless Internet access (surcharge) and pay movies. Bathrooms have shower/tub combinations.
